Bulletin Board:
- The Birkenhead Rotary Club is raising funds via a Bowls Competition at Birkenhead Bowling Club on 6th February (Waitangi Day). This year, Plunket will benefit from the surplus. Anyone interested in playing or donating a prize (approx $100), please contact bobsbulletin@hotmail.com.
- The Warkworth Club has a new fund raising scheme, a two day guided walk through the wonderful and varied landscape of Northland. For serious trampers or mere wanderers, this is a wonderful opportunity for recreation, good company and great food. For details, click here.
- The Pupuke Rotoract Club, the only Rotaract organisation on the North Shore is fund raising through an amazing wine sale. To read about it click here and to see the full wine list and pricing click on here.
- Jerry on behalf of our traditional donees, Far North Schools including Oturu, is selling local produce including multi-flora, manuka and premium clover honies and premium olive oil. Available at $10 per jar.
- Lloyd is the organiser of the live auction which should provide some compensation for the loss of income from the traditional live auction. Please give him every support.....and lots of items to sell.
- Our Northland Liason Team organised by Jerry distributed 700 golf T shirts to Northland Schools. The pictures of the children were delightful and we received many thank you notes.
This year we are supporting Takapuna Club in hosting its exchange student for three months. Ariane de Sa Landim comes from Sao Paulo, the world's third largest city, and true to the stereo-type of Latinas is having a blast. Her current host parents are Warren and Mary Lamb, contact numbers 378 0065 and 022 098 679 (so please take every opportunity to include Ariane in your family parties). Stephen is again the counsellor. .
Mark initiated a very successful raffle last year. The intention is to repeat the fund raiser and Mark will again be showing super-human effort in organising the affair.
The Walk Around the Lake inspired by Joan in support of Christchurch Kids affected by the earthquake was purblicised throughout Auckland. The event was a family one and was justified both by the joy it brought to the families who participated and the financial return.
This year's Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar based on the North Shore is Rhea Goeschl from Austria. She is studying for a Master's Degree at Massey university. Her enthusiastic participation in Club events is appreciated and we look forward to seeing her on a regular basis.
Through our relationship with Northland decile one schools, the Club contributed funds to four girls competing in the International Future Problem Solving Competition, this year in Texas. Their paper on promoting the bee population can be found here.
- A support arrangement has been entered into with the Rotary Club of Browns Bay through which we hope to sustain the Club through a difficult time brought about by retiring members. It is also a breakfast club, meeting 7.00am on Tuesdays at the Bays Club, 2 Anzac Avenue, Browns Bay and members are encouraged to attend. Since the support arrangement was announced, membership has risen from 7 to 13.
- The Club gained five new members todate this year. Welcome to Carne, Bob, Jo, Ray and Eve and we hope that they find the Club meets their expectations.....and more.

Regular Fund Raising Programmes
There is a drive internationally to support the new Centurion programme. Under this programme, members commit to an annual contribution to the charitable work of Rotary International - for New Zealand members a minimum of NZ$100pa.
Our Club president strongly supports the initiative and targets 80% of members joining. To download the application form, click on the icon.
